Il 28° Congresso della Federazione dei Maestri Sarti Asiatici (FAMT 2024) è tornato in Malesia, riunendo oltre 300 maestri sarti, designer e appassionati di moda provenienti da 6 paesi europei e 9 asiatici.La FAMT ha cambiato il sistema quest’anno ed ha eletto il primo presidente: Chen Chi-Feng da Taiwan e vicepresidente dai direttori, ecc.
Lo scopo è consentire ai paesi asiatici di ottenere migliori informazioni e di essere in grado di unirsi e cooperare per i beni. Organizzato dalla Federation of Tailors’ Guilds Malaysia, questo congresso ha mirato a mettere in mostra le competenze e i talenti individuali e a promuovere gli scambi tra professionisti del settore provenienti da diversi paesi. YBhg. Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, vicepresidente del consiglio di amministrazione di Tourism Malaysia, ha sottolineato che molte industrie, inclusa l’industria della sartoria, non solo contribuiscono allo sviluppo economico e al mercato del lavoro del paese, ma sono anche fonti preziose e significative di storia industriale e patrimonio culturale. “Credo che la maggior parte delle persone che operano in questi settori siano imprenditori autosufficienti o abbiano ereditato le proprie attività dai propri antenati. Indubbiamente hanno le loro storie di lotta ed esperienze. Queste storie ed esperienze possono servire come buone lezioni o materiali di riferimento per le generazioni più giovani, in particolare per coloro che aspirano ad avviare o espandere la propria attività”. Yeoh ha suggerito che i dipartimenti governativi competenti prendano in considerazione la produzione di documentari sulle lotte e sulla gestione aziendale di queste industrie, da utilizzare come materiale didattico supplementare per gli studenti nelle scuole e nelle università. Yeoh ha fatto queste osservazioni alla cerimonia di apertura del 28° Congresso della Federazione dei Maestri Sarti Asiatici. Tra gli illustri ospiti presenti figurava il Segretario generale del Ministero delle Comunicazioni, YBhg. Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Bin MD Isa, Presidente della Federation of Tailors Guilds Malaysia, Sam Ng Teck Yau, Segretario generale della Federation of Asian Master Tailors, Takeshi Asaka, Presidente della World Federation of Master Tailors, Gaetano Aloisio, Principal of Savile Row Bespoke Academy, Londra, Prof Andrew M Ramroop OBE e Presidente organizzatore del 28° Congresso FAMT KL, Gen Ng. L’apertura di FAMT 2024 segna l’inizio di un evento di cinque giorni ricco di attività entusiasmanti, tra cui seminari, sfilate di moda internazionali, concorsi internazionali di taglio master, concorsi di taglio junior junior e il concorso Golden Scissors. Questi eventi promettono di ispirare e favorire la crescita tra i professionisti della sartoria sia a livello nazionale che internazionale, promuovendo ulteriormente lo sviluppo e l’innovazione del settore sartoriale.
Sam Ng Teck Yau ha invece espresso la speranza che in futuro l’associazione possa collaborare con il governo malese e professionisti della sartoria provenienti da vari paesi asiatici per realizzare il “Fashion & Design Hub” proposto da Yeoh Soon Hin. “Se questo hub verrà creato con successo, significa che abbiamo creato una grande piattaforma di business per i settori della sartoria, della moda e del design, per espandere il mercato e migliorare la visibilità dei settori della sartoria, del design e della moda del nostro Paese”. Gen Ng ha rivelato che la conferenza ha organizzato appositamente una sfilata di moda per mostrare gli indumenti Batik, Kebaya e Songket più rappresentativi e unici della Malesia, consentendo a tutti di sperimentare la bellezza della cultura dell’abbigliamento malese. “Questa sfilata di moda non solo mostrerà le caratteristiche dei nostri costumi tradizionali, ma sarà anche presentata in modo innovativo, con leader influenti (KOL) e modelle che si esibiranno su un palco di strada, il che sarà senza dubbio il momento clou della conferenza”. Uno dei momenti salienti del 28° Congresso della Federazione dei Maestri Sarti asiatici sarà il tentativo di creare un record nel Libro dei primati della Malesia per il maggior numero di persone che camminano in giacca e cravatta. Il 5 agosto, 500 partecipanti e 20 key opinion leader (KOL) partiranno dal Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur e cammineranno verso il Padiglione Kuala Lumpur, creando un grande evento della Kuala Lumpur International Fashion Walk. Il pubblico è benvenuto a partecipare. Il successo dell’organizzazione di FAMT 2024 dimostra l’impegno del nostro Paese nel promuovere la sartoria su misura, nell’incoraggiare la collaborazione nel settore e nel mettere in mostra nuovi talenti sulla scena globale.

The 28th Congress of Federation of Asian Master Tailors (FAMT 2024) returns to Malaysia today, bringing together over 300 master tailors, designers, and fashion enthusiasts from 6 European and 9 Asian countries. FAMT changed the system this year and elected the first president: Chen Chi-Feng from Taiwan and vice president from directors, etc.
Organized by the Federation of Tailors’ Guilds Malaysia, this congress aims to showcase individual skills and talents and promote exchanges among industry professionals from different countries.
YBhg. Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Chairman, Board of Directors Tourism Malaysia pointed out that many industries, including the tailoring industry, are not only contributors to the country’s economic development and labor market but also valuable and meaningful sources of industrial history and cultural heritage.
“I believe that most people in these industries are self-reliant entrepreneurs or have inherited their businesses from their ancestors. They undoubtedly have their own stories of struggle and experiences. These stories and experiences can serve as good lessons or reference materials for the younger generation, especially those who aspire to start or expand their businesses.”
Yeoh suggested that relevant government departments consider producing documentaries about the struggles and business management of these industries, to be used as supplementary teaching materials for students in schools and universities.
Yeoh made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the 28th Congress Federation of Asian Master Tailors. Distinguished guests in attendance included the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, YBhg. Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Bin MD Isa, President of Federation of Tailors Guilds Malaysia, Sam Ng Teck Yau, Secretary General of the Federation of Asian Master Tailors, Takeshi Asaka, President of the World Federation of Master Tailors, Gaetano Aloisio, Principal of Savile Row Bespoke Academy, London, Prof Andrew M Ramroop OBE, and Organizing Chairman of 28th Congress FAMT KL, Gen Ng.
The opening of FAMT 2024 marks the start of a Five-day event filled with exciting activities, including seminars, international fashion shows, international master cutting competitions, junior master cutting competitions, and the Golden Scissors competition. These events promise to inspire and foster growth among tailoring professionals both domestically and internationally, further promoting the development and innovation of the tailoring industry.
On the other hand, Sam Ng Teck Yau expressed hope that in the future, the association can collaborate with the Malaysian government and tailoring professionals from various Asian countries to realize the “Fashion & Design Hub” proposed by Yeoh Soon Hin.
“If this hub is successfully established, it means we have created a large business platform for the tailoring, fashion, and design industries, to expand the market and enhance the visibility of our country’s tailoring, design, and fashion industries.”
Gen Ng revealed that the conference has specially arranged a fashion show to showcase Malaysia’s most representative and unique Batik, Kebaya, and Songket garments, allowing everyone to experience the beauty of Malaysian clothing culture.
“This fashion show will not only display our traditional costume features but will also be presented in an innovative way, with influential leaders (KOLs) and models performing on a street stage, which will undoubtedly be a highlight of the conference.”
One of the highlights of the 28th Congress Federation of Asian Master Tailors will be an attempt to create a record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest number of people walking in suits. On August 5, 500 participants and 20 key opinion leaders (KOLs) will start from the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and walk to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, creating a grand event of the Kuala Lumpur International Fashion Walk. The public is welcome to join.
